Wildflowers bloom at Blackberry Farm.
Tucked away in the mountains of Tennessee is an intimate luxury boutique hotel like no other. A beach/city girl myself, I found this property incredibly unique and memorizing. We visited early fall, which added to the allure for us, as the weather could not have been any more perfect. Crisp mornings led to sunny afternoons ideal for tennis matches, geocaching, clay shooting and cocktail hours in the hot tub, catching the last of the day's rays.The staff is outstanding and exactly what you would expect of a resort of this caliber. By day 2, they all know your name an how you take your coffee (and your cocktail).We stayed in an adorable cottage (the Chickadee) which came with a golf cart perfect for exploring the grounds, as there are 4200 acres to discover. I would describe the design of the cottage (and throughout the property) as rustic elegance.Then there's the food. Oh...the food! And the wine. This is truly a farm to table experience (you can even tour the working farm if you'd like). The cuisine at Blackberry Farm is often called "Foothills Cuisine" which means it balances the rustic with the refined. There are three restaurants to choose from: the Main Restaurant, Dogwood and The Barn. They are all outstanding. The Barn is the most upscale of the three and the one we found most interesting and delicious. It is also the most impressive in terms of design. It is, as the name suggests, a barn. The most beautiful barn you've even been in, that is. Blackberry Farm bursts with peace and tranquility, all while offering a surprising amount of (relaxed) activity. If you want to disconnect from the world and reconnect with your significant other amongst Mother Nature, I would highly suggest you consider Blackberry Farm for your next getaway. We'd like to try its sister property next, Blackberry Mountain, although I have to say it has a lot to live up to!
